How do I know if I should fill out the online application?
First read through the descriptions of scholarships that are available at www.saintpaulfoundation.org or www.mncommunityfoundation.org.

There are 18 scholarships that we offer that use the online application system. If you find a scholarship that you qualify for and it says that an online application is available, follow the link provided to apply. If you see multiple scholarships that you are eligible for, you will only need to fill out the online application once.

Can I fill out a paper application if the scholarship is listed as having an online application?
I have a paper version from last year.
No. Only online applications will be accepted for these scholarships.

Why is the application not showing up for me or why am I not able to fill out the fields needed?
This system requires that you use Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher for it to operate properly. You must also allow pop-ups and cookies. You can adjust these settings in your computer’s security settings.

What information should I have before filling out the form?
You should have a scanned copy of your transcript and a scanned letter of recommendation to upload with your application. You will also be asked to list your extracurricular and work experiences, and write an essay on your future goals. We suggest that you write up this information in Word first and then cut and paste the information onto your scholarship application.

What if I don’t have a scanner?
If you are unable to scan at home, you may also have your document scanned at a public library, your school, or any other organization/business that provides scanning services to the general public.

What happens after I fill in my information?
You will be directed to a screen that is called “Scholarship Application-Recommended Scholarship Search”. On this page one or more scholarships will be listed that you are eligible to apply for.

Click the “apply now” button next to each of the scholarships to see if any additional information is needed and to check off the boxes that state if you are eligible for the scholarship. You then click the “apply now” button.

What if I don’t have all of the information that I need to fill out the application right now?
You can begin to fill out the application at any time and can return at a later date to complete the application, as long as you remember your username and password.

Remember that incomplete applications will not be considered, so make sure that your application is complete and that all needed attachments are uploaded before the application deadline.

What is the application deadline?
Scholarship deadlines are different for each scholarship, so check the scholarship listings at www.saintpaulfoundation.org or www.mncommunityfoundation.org for the correct date.

What if the scholarship that I thought I was eligible for did not come up?
You can look at the eligibility requirements for that scholarship if you click the “view all scholarships” button on the recommended scholarships page. These are scholarships that you are not eligible for, given the answers that you gave in the online application.

You can look at the eligibility requirements for the scholarships that were not recommended for you to find out why that scholarship was not suggested for you. If you read the requirements and still feel like you should be eligible, please contact Donna Paulson at dkp@saintpaulfoundation.org.

How do I know the status of my application?
You may always check the status of your application for all postings you have applied to by looking at the scholarship status page. If you have successfully applied for a scholarship, it will say “applied for” next to the scholarship name. Once a scholarship is awarded or declined, this page will be updated to show the current status.
