SpectrumTrust
SpectrumTrust (formerly known as the Diversity Endowment Funds) is a unique partnership between communities of color and The Saint Paul Foundation. Since its creation in 1992, SpectrumTrust has built permanent endowments within communities of color throughout Minnesota.
SpectrumTrust engages people from these communities in all parts of philanthropy-as donors, decision-makers and grantmakers. In these roles, they coordinate fund raising, identify fields of interest and allocate charitable dollars.
The SpectrumTrust Endowments are statewide funds that consist of a Multicultural Endowment fund as well as four community-specific endowments:
| The mission of SpectrumTrust is to improve the quality of life of Minnesota’s communities of color through building relevant and long-lasting philanthropic resources that promote social justice and cross-cultural understanding. |
The Asian Pacific Endowment, a permanent philanthropic endowment built by and for Asian Pacific Islanders, empowers communities to improve and enrich the lives of Asian Pacific Islanders in Minnesota. |
The mission of the Pan African Community Endowment is to promote philanthropy within the Pan African community and to develop philanthropic resources appropriate to its history, culture and traditions. |
The mission of El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad is to create a model of philanthropy within Minnesota's Latino/Chicano community that fosters the giving of talent, time and money to efforts that build on the assets and strength of the Latino/Chicano community. |
The mission of the Two Feathers Endowment is to provide a culturally sensitive, community responsive philanthropic vehicle for addressing the needs within the Indian communities of Minnesota by supporting artistic, educational, social and cultural development activities.

Fund Structure Each endowment is operated by a committee made up of volunteers from the respective cultural community. Appointments to the SpectrumTrust endowments are ratified annually by the Board of Directors of The Saint Paul Foundation.
Grants Income generated by each endowment is available for making grants. Each of the Committees has developed grantmaking guidelines specific to the unique characteristics of their communities. Proposals that meet the guidelines are solicited widely from within each of the communities.
