Minnesota Community Foundation & The Saint Paul Foundation: Two Foundations One Direction

A scholarship is more than a legacy. It is an enduring investment in our future. The Saint Paul Foundation and Minnesota Community Foundation use both paper and web-based applications, depending upon each scholarship. To find out which method is required for each, please visit the scholarship listings on our website. If an application is available online on the STARS website, paper applications will not be accepted.

Awards

Most scholarships are awarded by June for the following academic year. Scholarship recipients will receive notification by mail or e-mail.

Deadlines

Deadlines vary for each scholarship. Check each scholarship listing on our website for specific deadlines. Applications will not be accepted past the deadline date.

To apply online via the STARS website:

• You will need Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher to access the STARS website. Be sure your settings allow pop-ups and cookies, which can be adjusted in your browser's security settings. You will need a student username and password to create a STARS account.  Please use your telephone number as your student username. If another member of your household has already used your telephone number as an username, please select another 10-digit number.

• Once you create a student username and password, you will be asked to fill in personal, academic and financial information to determine your scholarship eligibility. After completing this information, you will be directed to the 'Recommended Scholarships' page that lists the scholarships for which you are eligible. Click 'Apply Now' next to each scholarship to see if additional application materials are required. Check the boxes that state you are eligible and click 'Apply Now.'

• If you do not finish the application when you first create your login, you can log in again using your student username and password. Please remember to complete your application and attach all required documents before the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Once you have completed your application, you can check the STARS status page to ensure that it was submitted. Your application is complete if 'Applied For' is stated next to the scholarship name.

To apply with a paper application:

• For paper-based applications, contact the scholarship represenatative listed or download the application available on each scholarship listing on our website.

• Each scholarship has specific requirements. To determine what is needed, please follow the instructions included with the application.
