The mission of El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad is to create a model of philanthropy within Minnesota's Latino community that fosters the giving of talent, time and money to efforts that build on the assets and strength of the Latino community.
El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad is a permanent endowment fund that provides a long-term capital base from which charitable grants are made each year to support the Latino community.
Since 1996, El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad has awarded 125 grants totaling $688,827.
El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad makes grants throughout the state of Minnesota to organizations that are consistent with its mission. The Grantmaking Committee will seek applicants that serve the Latino community in Minnesota. Grants awarded by El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad range from $1,000 to $10,000. El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad gives funding priority to projects that promote:
- the strengthening of families,
- youth development,
- education,
- civic participation,
- economic opportunities,
- organizational capacity-building, and
- Immigration issues.
