Part of the community
Saint Paul is all about its people. It is a home to innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders. It is a city that values and supports families and - for generations - has welcomed new Americans. It is a place that preserves its heritage and invests in education and culture.
Annie F. Paper was the first donor of The Saint Paul Foundation. A child emigrant from Eastern Europe, she made her life in Saint Paul. Her father was a peddler and established a jewelry store with her brothers.
Established in 1944 with $5,000, the Annie F. Paper Fund has made 31 grants totaling $65,000. Today the Fund is worth more than $65,000.
Paper and other early investors such as Glen and Harold Bend, Grace Flandreau, Ralph Kriesel and Mary Lou Diether established legacy funds that made sure resources were available to meet the community's changing needs.
Innovative investment and grant products
The Saint Paul Foundation exists to help you achieve your philanthropic goals and sustain a thriving Minnesota. You enjoy the highest level of philanthropic service while improving the communities you care about most.
By engaging in multiple communities - donors, policymakers, nonprofits and faith leaders -The Saint Paul Foundation can help understand how our community operates and where positive change is needed. By connecting donors' passions with critical community needs, we help the East Metro thrive.
To effect positive change, we believe those affected by our work as philanthropists must also be part of forming and informing the work we do.
